Student Peer Teaching Platform (SPTP)

Student Peer Teaching Platform (SPTP)

Earmarked for the Future, Destined to Succeed

A unique and innovative academic initiative by St George’s College Aruvithura to enrich, energize and ennoble the student community

Student Peer Teaching Platform (SPTP) is a noble and novel academic venture envisioned and promoted by St George’s College Aruvithura. Spearheaded by students and supervised by the respective departments, the programme endeavours to inculcate in students an academic culture and thinking. A brain-child of our Principal Dr M V Georgekutty, SPTP is an attempt to turn free hours into avenues for full-fledged academic deliberations monitored by students themselves.

Modus Operandi

Five to six students are selected from each class as peer teachers. A rigorous training, aimed at bringing out their latent talents and spurring on their leadership and class-management skills, is imparted, turning them into teachers and leaders. Upon successful completion of the training, they are given certificates endorsing them as qualified peer teachers. The certified peer teachers are in-charge of managing the class during free hours. Subject to the consent of the department concerned, the freedom to choose the minutiae of the session is vested in the peer teachers. Upon completion of an academic year, the best peer teachers will be honoured with certificates of excellence.
