Submission Guidelines

Guidelines for Submission

All submitted manuscripts are independently refereed by the reviewers/editors recommended by the Editors. Anonymity is assured. Receipt of works is acknowledged as soon as possible (within 2 days). If you do not get any reply, resend the email. The submitted articles will undergo a preliminary quality check by the editors. If any submitted article fails to qualify, the same will be rejected and the author will be communicated the decision promptly. If the editors are satisfied, they will select one or more reviewers for detailed consideration of the articles. Decisions to publish or not, to request revisions, if necessary re-submission, and/or extra adjudication, are entirely at the discretion of the Editors. The entire publication process may take up to one week. Since we follow continuous publication model, the submission will be published soon after it is approved for publication by the reviewer/editor.

  • The entire paper should be typewritten in MS Word, Times New Roman, 11 font size (12 for title), single spaced.
  • Please make the editor’s job easier: Each submission must be a new email thread, attach only one submission per email, and use an appropriate email subject.Example: Submission by Moyuri Dutta
  • Original articles alone will be entertained. Submission will imply that it is not being considered for publication elsewhere.
  • We hate plagiarism. Plagiarism of any sort will lead to rejection of the paper. In case any article is found to be plagiarised before publication, we will blacklist the author. Even after publication if any article is found to be plagiarised or reported by anybody to be plagiarised, we will REMOVE the article promptly.
  • The word limit for the full paper is 1500-3000 words.
  • For in-text citations MLA 7/MLA 8 stylesheet must be adhered to (Parenthetical referencing within the text, hanging indent only for quotations running into more than 4 lines).
  • A works cited list, strictly following MLA 7/ MLA 8 standards, should be appended to the full paper.
  • Don’t use indents at the beginning of paragraphs.
  • Endnotes must be used instead of Footnotes
  • British spelling must be adhered to. Abbreviations, acronyms, technical or specialised terms should be expanded/defined when used for the first time.
  • Words in languages other than English are to be italicized at the first occurrence and their translations given in brackets.
  • Avoid sub-headings unless absolutely necessary.
  • Ensure that your submission is checked for spelling errors, grammar, punctuation, and consistency before submission to save time.

The views expressed in the articles will be that of the individual authors and may not necessarily represent that of the publishers.

Payment Details

We at mutemelodist.com do two types of online academic publications. One is the Notes for Students section which invites critical essays, articles and notes on English language, literature, criticism, theory and ELT from English teachers and students. The idea is to build a database of good quality content easily and freely accessible to students of literature. This is a goodwill project and as such submissions made do not come under online journal category and therefore may not entitle the submission with an ISSN Number. Online publication, processing are all free here.

Our second enterprise is our flagship journal AJILE. AJILE (Aesthetique Journal for International Literary Enterprises, E-ISSN 2456-1754) is an international bi-annual peer reviewed journal designed to give wings to the scholarly and academic aspirations of the literary community around the world. Each featured issue aims at furthering research and fostering academic deliberations clustered around a distinctive thrust area of contemporary literary and/or linguistic relevance. Submissions here will be peer reviewed by a team of experts. Again, there is no publication or processing fee here. Check the following links:

1. Inaugural Issue

2. Volume 2, Number 1 "Literature Across Frontiers"

3. Volume 2, Special Issue "Will’s Word and World: Commemorating the Bard"

The submission window is currently open and you have the opportunity to make submissions to the Current Issue of the journal.

The only time we request payment is when print volumes are published, mostly for documentation purposes, only to meet the cost of printing and postage. Otherwise, we always believe and promote the free creation and dissemination of knowledge. We don’t pay anyone for publishing with us, nor will we ask for payment for accessing the content.
